Order Policies and Shipping Information


Submitting your order: Once your order has been submitted, we will review it for accuracy before final order acceptance and payment processing takes place.  If order total requires any adjustment by Summit, based on terms or conditions not being met, you will be notified before this order is accepted and finalized.  Otherwise, accepted orders will be processed as soon as possible.

Please note that, as stated on both our product pages and this policy page, egress window well accessories (such as Clear Covers, Grates, Ladders, and Installation Kits) must be ordered with a window well to be included in the “$8 Shipping” offer.  If you are ordering one of these accessories WITHOUT a window well, then additional freight charges will need to be added (thereby changing your order total), and we will contact you with a corrected total before your order is accepted and finalized, and before your payment is processed.

There may be other items on our website subject to special terms, conditions, expiration dates, or limitations.  Please make sure that you have reviewed and understand all posted information on the product pages and this Policies page pertaining to the product that you wish to order.

By submitting your order to Summit Contractor Supply, you are acknowledging that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by, all order policies as stated on this Policy page, as well as any other stated terms and conditions that might exist, pertaining to the product(s) that you ordered.

Our refund policy and restocking charge policy varies based on the product that is ordered.  Please read the Return Policy notes below, or call us before placing your order.

While we strive for accuracy, we are human.  Therefore, we reserve the right to correct any unintentional errors in text, descriptions, and pricing before this order is accepted, finalized, and processed.  We also reserve the right to refuse sales, and to limit sales to dealers.  With all of this having been said....

In addition to cash, good checks, money orders and cashier's checks, Summit accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card.  If paying by check, please allow time for the check to clear. 
Sales Tax
Sales tax will be added only to orders received from customers located in Indiana.  Orders from any other state will not be charged sales tax.  If you are outside of the state of Indiana, the responsibility will fall on to you to pay sales taxes to your state for your purchases.
How and Where We Ship
Smaller orders usually ship via UPS.  Larger, heavier orders ship via common carrier.  
We ship only within the continental USA.  If you wish to place an order to an area outside of the continental 48 United States, please contact us before placing your order.  Shipping costs shown on this website apply only to shipment destinations within the continental 48 United States.
Please remember, we can not ship anything to a P.O.Box!
Shipping Charges
The shipping charges that calculate when you place your order are for standard delivery.  If you require or request any special shipping, additional charges may apply, and we will notify you before processing your order.  Special shipping requests might include: Truck lift-gate service, unloading charge, inside delivery, next day or expedited delivery, guaranteed delivery, return receipt, COD, delivery outside the contiguous 48 United States, etc..  
If, after your order has shipped via common carrier, you need to change the delivery address, you will be liable for, and charged for, all re-consignment and re-delivery charges.

Return Policy
Please contact us before returning any merchandise for any reason.  We will refuse and return any item that is shipped back without prior approval.  We will accept MOST items for refund or exchange within 30 days from the date of which you received them.  Some items can not be accepted for refund, and are mentioned below.  Some items will be subject to a restocking and/or handling charge, and the charge will be based upon that which will be charged back to us from our vendor.  If we accept your item for return, we are unable to refund any freight costs (unless we made an error).

Any item accepted by us for return must be in original clean and resalable condition, and contain the original packaging and intact UPC codes.

Egress window wells (ie: ScapeWEL, White Steel) and their related accessories are not available for return
!  Because Egress Window Wells are very large and somewhat heavy, they must be shipped via common carrier (truck).  Each time they are shipped there is a risk of damage to the products and their appearance.  To avoid the risk of receiving back into stock items whose appearance is less than perfect, Summit and the vendors will not accept returns of unwanted product.  We would never want to sell the next customer a product that has previously been delivered to a prior customer's construction jobsite, and then returned.
If returns on any of our egress window wells and accessories were possible (and they're not), the customer would have to arrange the return freight with a truck line of their choosing.  The return freight charges would be quite  expensive (much greater than our $8 delivery charge).  Plus, if a standard restocking charge would be added, the total return expense would be a large percentage of your original purchase price.  Returns of egress window well products would be very expensive, risky, and laborious, and it is for these reasons that we do not accept returns of any egress window wells or their related accessories.  We respectfully advise customers to measure and order carefully to avoid the chance of receiving unwanted egress window well product(s). 

Items that have been used, altered, scratched, disassembled, or otherwise made non-resalable may not be accepted for return or exchange.  If an item was specially ordered by us, or ordered custom-made, or imprinted, it can not be returned.  

Certain other items (in addition to egress window well products), such as our decorative columns and mailbox columns, are also not available for return.  If you have questions or concerns, or feel that there is a strong chance that you might will need to return your item(s) after receiving them, please contact our customer service department BEFORE placing your order.  We will be happy to give you more specific information about the return policy as it relates to your order.  

If we make an error with your order, we will most certainly do whatever is necessary to correct the problem.  We want you to be satisfied with your purchases, and happy with us as a supplier, but we must enforce these policies in an effort to keep costs down and prices reasonable.  Please contact us if you have any questions.
More About Egress Window Well Orders
As stated on each of our ordering pages for egress window wells, there is an additional charge for ordering accessories (including Clear Covers, Grates, Installation Kits), without a window well.  This is because our website pricing is calculated assuming that the accessories will be ordered with a window well.  Also, these large, more fragile accessories ship at a higher freight classification than the window wells, since they ship without the protection that an accompanying window well would offer.  Freight classifications and rates are lower for more durable goods, and much higher for fragile goods.  If you complete the order process for a window well accessory only (without a window well), we will need to contact you before processing your order to let you know that an additional $165 shipping charge will be assessed for an order containing only a Clear Cover or Metal Grate, and an additional shipping charge of $8 will be added to any order of an Installation Kit ordered without a window well.  Therefore, the order total that shows on you order confirmation may be subject to correction after we review the order.  
Please allow adequate time for your window well order to arrive.  We can not be responsible for construction delays or real estate transaction delays that occur.

Receiving Your Order
If your order shipped via UPS, please make arrangements to receive it at the address that you specified when placing your order.  
If your order will be shipped via truck (as in the case of all egress window wells and/or accessories, as well as other large, heavy items we sell), someone MUST be available to personally accept delivery.  The truck driver will not, under any circumstances, deliver your truck shipment unless someone is available to 1) inspect the shipment for damage, 2) assist with the unloading process, and 3) sign for delivery.  If you are not available to accept delivery on the delivery date, please make sure you designate another person to the responsibility.  
If the truck company is forced to re-deliver your shipment at another time, or return the shipment to us, you will be liable for any and all redelivery fees and/or storage fees, or scrap fees.  
Please note that someone may need to assist with delivery on your end.  Truck drivers are required only to get the shipment to your address.  Most will assist with the delivery process, but some won't.
Claims For Damaged Goods
Once you receive your order, please inspect it closely.  Hopefully your order will arrive complete and in good condition.  If it doesn't, here's what to do:
  • If the order arrived via UPS please inspect the carton for damage, and compare the packing list with the contents.  If there is shortage or damage, please save the damaged shipping carton.  UPS might wish to see the carton if a damage claim is necessary.
  • If the order arrived via common carrier (truck), please inspect the shipment closely for damages before signing for delivery.  If any damage is visible (scratched product, dented boxes, punctured cartons, open cartons, broken pallets, etc), please make sure that either you or the truck driver notes the damage on the delivery ticket.  This is very important!  Please do not refuse the order!  If in doubt, or if you have questions, please call us.  
Please call Summit toll-free at (800) 359-5808 with any questions at time of delivery.  We may authorize you to refuse the order in some cases, and can assist you in claim filing.  
Cancelling An Order
If you wish to cancel an order, please do so as soon as possible after placing the order.  Once your order has shipped, or once merchandise has been specially ordered to fill your order, your order will be subject to the Return Policy outlined above.
